Sun shines on St George’s Day Parade

The Scouting Spirit was certainly on show again at our annual St George’s Day celebrations. We were so lucky with the weather with the sun shining during and after the service.

Can I congratulate all of Worcester Scout District especially all the Scout Groups and Units for a superb turnout. The numbers attending seemed greater than ever with Worcester Cathedral packed to capacity. In particular I would like to thank everyone at 1st Worcester Scout Group for organising and hosting this year’s service.

Everyone should feel extremely proud especially our young people. Everyone looked so smart and set a great example of Scouting. The Mayor and Lady Mayor and our County Commissioner, Dr Derek Barnes also send their appreciation and high regard for the parade and service and pass on their thanks for a wonderful event.

I would also like to congratulate those adults who received awards, Sue Ranscombe for the Silver Acorn and for the Award for Merit, Ann Burkert, Keith Burkert, Val Cunnington and Hazel Tyrrell, all very well deserved.

Our Movement may have changed a lot since those early days when our Founder started it all on Brownsea Island, but for the thousands of youngsters and adults the adventure and fun continues.

A massive thank you for all your efforts,

Yours in Scouting
